We have been trading since 1988 originally as "Automatic Conversions" and have during this time built an excellent reputation, both in the UK and overseas, as one of the leading suppliers of remanufactured gearboxes,transfer cases and differentials. We also supply our own design of strengthened halfshafts and a variety of other specialist products for the Rover 4 x 4 vehicle.

The Company, owned by Ian and David Ashcroft, offers good, established and proven products at competitive prices. We aim to have most items in stock, which can be dispatched immediately in the UK and overseas. To give some idea of our capacity we now have 25 staff, operate from a 18000 sq ft facility and last year we supplied over 5000 standard gearboxes, and many specials worldwide.

Ian Ashcroft C Eng M.I.MechE, B.Sc Hons (Mech Eng)

After completing an apprenticeship and degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ian spent 20 years in the manufacturing industry. He worked in various capacities, including maintenance and design, where he has gained a wealth of experience.Automatic Conversions was born as a quest for a reliable transmission after successfully destroying endless Series II & III gearboxes with a V8 engine. Other developments followed in an attempt to further improve reliability of the drive train. He has considerable technical knowledge, which he has demonstrated in the design of most of our products. He undertakes all the specialist work and will provide technical help when required.

David Ashcroft B.Eng(Hons) MSc(SPRU)

After completing a three-year apprenticeship with Rolls Royce David continued his studies at Sussex University, obtaining an honours degree in Engineering and a Masters degree in Technology Management
David returned for a further year at Rolls Royce, Derby, before joining his father in 1993. Using his business and technical expertise he has developed the business to its current form. He is the driving force behind the Company"s progress and is the main point of contact for all our customers. He is able to offer informative technical assistance and help regarding all our products.
